Wrestler Shot, Dumped in Well over Illicit Relationship Suspicion

by TheReportingTimes

Haryana, April 5: A shocking murder case has surfaced from Mandauthi village in Bahadurgarh, where local wrestler Rakesh, known as Ghuggu Pehalwan, was found dead with a millstone tied to his neck and dumped in a well.

The body was recovered on Friday after the key accused, Devendra alias Sonu, confessed to the crime during police interrogation.

Rakesh had gone missing on March 27, prompting his family to file a missing person report two days later.

Based on suspicions raised by the family, Devendra was questioned and eventually admitted to killing Rakesh over doubts about an alleged illicit relationship with his sister-in-law.

ACP Dinesh Kumar confirmed the details of the crime, stating, “The accused called Ghuggu Pehalwan to the fields, shot him from behind, then tied a heavy stone around his neck and threw the body into a nearby well to hide the evidence.”

Police recovered the body from the well in the village fields on Devendra’s identification and sent it for postmortem.

The arrested accused will be produced in Bahadurgarh court today. Authorities plan to seek his remand to recover the weapon used in the murder.

“We are also looking for other individuals who may have been involved,” ACP Dinesh Kumar said, adding that further arrests are expected soon.
