Mumbai, 25 January 2025- Salman Khan once talked about the actors whom he considered big stars. He said that for him ‘Rajesh Khanna and Kumar Gaurav’ are big stars. In an old interview in 2017, Salman had said that if stardom is compared, he felt that he does not have even 10 percent of these actors. Salman also praised Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan.
Rajesh Khanna gave 15 consecutive solo super-hits between 1969 and 1972. He debuted in 1966 with Aakhri Khat. It was India’s first official Oscar entry in 1967. He worked in many films including Aradhana, Kati Patang, Guddi, Anand, Bawarchi. He appeared with many other stars in Namak Haram. At the same time, actor Rajendra Kumar’s son Kumar Gaurav became an overnight star with the film Love Story in the early 1980s. He later appeared in Teri Kasam, Star, Naam and Kaante.
In an interview with news agency PTI, Salman had said, “I don’t think anyone is bigger than Dilip Kumar. Then there is Amitabh Bachchan, he is still working and is everywhere. You think we are popular then (it’s not true)… I think no one is bigger than Rajesh Khanna and the other was Kumar Gaurav. I have seen the stardom of both and it was unbelievable. So, when stardom is compared I feel I don’t have even 10% of them.”
On being called a ‘superstar’, Salman had said, “This acting is just a job. I live every moment of my life and perform my best in every moment. No matter where you are, you should always think how you got up there and worked the way you did for your first film, there should be honesty in every shot like that.”
