Mahakumbh stampede: The Samajwadi Party chief, Akhilesh Yadav said, ‘The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh did not even express condolences. When the President and Prime Minister of the country expressed condolences, the state government accepted it 17 hours later. These are the people who cannot accept the truth even today.’
Akhilesh Yadav raised the issue of Maha Kumbh accident in the Lok Sabha
Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav raised the issue of Maha Kumbh accident in the Lok Sabha. During the discussion on the President’s address, he said that the double engine government has hidden the figures of the victims of the accident.
He surrounded the BJP and asked why the figures were suppressed and hidden? Akhilesh said that an all-party meeting should be called to give clarification about the arrangements of Maha Kumbh. “The correct figure of the people killed in the stampede in Maha Kumbh should be given, punitive action should be taken against those who hid the figures,” stated Yadav.
He said, ‘The government is constantly giving budget figures, but they should also give the figures of those who died in Maha Kumbh. My demand is that an all-party meeting should be called to clarify the arrangements of Maha Kumbh. The responsibility of Maha Kumbh disaster management and lost and found center should be given to the army.”
“The figures of deaths in the Maha Kumbh tragedy, treatment of the injured, availability of medicines, doctors, food, water, transport should be presented in the Parliament. Strict punitive action should be taken against those responsible for the Maha Kumbh tragedy and those hiding the truth should be punished. We ask the double engine government that if there was no fault, why were the figures suppressed, hidden and erased?” Akhilesh Yadav continued.
“What kind of Sanatani tradition is this?” asked Yadav
Akhilesh said that when it was known that some people had lost their lives, their bodies were lying in the mortuary and hospital, even then the government showered flowers by filling its government helicopter with flowers. What kind of Sanatani tradition is this?
“God knows how many slippers, clothes and sarees were lying there and all of them were lifted by JCB machine and tractor trolley. No one knows where they were thrown,” Yadav continued.
‘…then I will resign from Lok Sabha’
The Samajwadi Party chief said, “The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh did not even express condolences. When the President and Prime Minister of the country expressed condolences, the state government accepted it 17 hours later. These are the people who cannot accept the truth even today.”
During his speech, Akhilesh said that it was shown on many TV channels and advertisements that arrangements have been made for 100 crore people to come to the Maha Kumbh. “If I am lying or my claims turn out to be false, then I will resign from the Lok Sabha,” claimed SP chief Akhilesh Yadav.
15000 people said their relatives are missing: Ram Gopal
After his protest in Parliament, Samajwadi Party MP Ram Gopal Yadav claimed that 15,000 people have reported that their relatives are missing since the incident and the government is not giving any information. He reminded that after the stampede at the 1954 Prayag Kumbh Mela, the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru spoke in Parliament and gave the number of people killed and injured in the tragedy.
He said, “When there was a big stampede in 1954, on the very first day Jawaharlal Nehru had said in the House that 400 people had died and 2000 were injured.”
