Kolkata, September 6: In a turn of events in the rape and murder case involving the doctor in Kolkata, the victim’s parents claimed on Thursday that they were forced into admitting on camera that the Kolkata Police Department had not made them an offer of money. The statement was made the day after the victim’s parents shockingly accused the city police of rushing their daughter’s cremation and trying to hush up the matter through bribery.

Victim’s parents in Kolkata rape case posed serious allegations against Kolkata police

Notably, the parents of a doctor in Kolkata made a contradictory remark after the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) released a video in which the parents were allegedly heard claiming that the police had not offered them any money.

On Thursday, the TMC denied that the lady doctor’s parents had accused the police of covering up, arguing that a recently discovered video showed the family was previously satisfied with the inquiry and disproved their allegations. The family, however, quickly refuted the TMC’s allegations, claiming that the video was forcibly recorded by the police earlier, just after the cremation.

Parents and other family members of the victim claimed on Wednesday that the police “were in a hurry to cremate the body and even offered money.” The doctor’s parents made severe accusations against the Kolkata Police, claiming that on August 9 a senior officer approached them, offered them money, and asked for their signatures on a piece of white paper. They also claimed that they were under a lot of pressure to cremate their daughter’s body against their desires.

“The cops attempted to quiet the matter from the start. We had to wait at the police station while the body was taken for post-mortem examinations and were not allowed to see the body. Later, when the body was handed over to us, a senior police official offered us money, which we immediately declined,” the victim’s father stated.
