Three Arrested in Shooting of Bumber Thakur

Bilaspur, March 16 — Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the shooting incident that left former Congress MLA Bumber Thakur injured, police said.

The accused have been identified as Rohit Kumar Rana (29) from Dharot village, Manjeet Singh Nadda (33) from Binaula village, and Ritesh Sharma, alias Rishu (24), from Rohin village in Bilaspur district.

According to police, Ritesh Sharma allegedly helped the shooters escape the scene in his vehicle after the attack outside Thakur’s residence.

The roles of the other two accused are still being investigated.

Bilaspur Superintendent of Police Sandeep Dhawal confirmed the arrests, stating that a case has been registered under Section 109 (abetment to attempt murder) and Section 3(5) (joint criminal liability) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, along with provisions of the Arms Act. The investigation is ongoing.
