“BJP will organize Raksha Bandhan programmes for women’s safety at 15 major locations in Kolkata under the leadership of Mahila Morcha. On August 20, our MLAs will protest. On August 21, our MPs will protest. On August 22, the protest will continue, and we will gherao the Swasthya Bhavan. On August 23, our Mahila Morcha will protest. Members from Bengali film industry joined the protest
Bengali film industry actors and directors convened to voice their opposition against the purported rape and killing of a trainee physician at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
Prominent members of the Bengali film industry, such as filmmakers Kaushik Ganguly and Arindam Sil and actress Churni Ganguly, joined the demonstration demanding justice for the victim.
Actor Saheb Chatterjee, who is from Bengal, was also at the rally. He voiced his worries about the need to administer adequate justice, emphasizing that strong and efficient reactions to violent crimes are necessary to uphold public confidence.
