The CEO and co-founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov, caused a stir online when he disclosed that he has over a hundred “biological kids” spread over twelve countries. The 32-year-old said that he had been an active sperm donor in a lengthy post on Telegram.
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, responded to a post on X that included a screenshot of Durov’s post by writing, “Rookie numbers lmao – Genghis Khan.”
The Mongol Empire’s founder, Genghis Khan, is rumored to have fathered numerous offspring. According to a study titled “The Genetic Legacy of the Mongols” that was published in the American Journal of Human Genetics, 0.5% of all men worldwide are descended from Genghis Khan.

Durov said in a Telegram post that he started sperm donation 15 years ago. “A strange request was made to me by a buddy fifteen years ago. He explained that he and his spouse were unable to conceive because of a reproductive problem, and he wanted me to give sperm to a clinic so that they might become parents. Before realizing he was dead serious, I laughed my ass off,” the writer stated.
He opted to donate frequently after learning that he was “high-quality donor material” when he went to a clinic to donate his sperm. He wrote that his frozen sperm is still in an IVF facility and that he has ceased donating. In order to facilitate communication amongst his biological offspring, Durov also stated that he intends to make his DNA publicly available.
“There are hazards, of course, but I’m glad I donated.” I’m happy that I was able to contribute to reducing the global sperm scarcity, which has grown to be a major problem, he stated in the post.
