Teacher’s Remark Sparks Outrage in Gidderbaha School

by TheReportingTimes

Gidderbaha, April 13: A teacher at a leading private school in Gidderbaha allegedly made an inappropriate remark at a Class V girl student earlier this week, triggering sharp reactions from the child’s family and prompting intervention from education authorities.

Sources said the teacher’s “objectionable and insensitive” comment left the student visibly disturbed in class. The matter escalated quickly after her parents approached the school management demanding action and a formal apology.

The student’s father also lodged a complaint with the District Education Officer (DEO) and District Welfare Officer (DWO), urging strict action.

Following the complaint, the DEO summoned the school principal and the teacher, seeking an explanation. The school later convened an emergency meeting and issued a formal apology, calling the teacher’s comment “uncalled for.”

Jaspal Monga, DEO, Muktsar, said, “I called the school principal and the teacher to my office and they have submitted a written apology. We have already issued directions to all schools to deal politely with students and their parents.”

Sources added that the family has withdrawn their child from the school.

Meanwhile, District Welfare Officer Jagmohan Singh said he has summoned both the teacher and principal to his office on Tuesday for further inquiry. Parents across the region continue to demand stricter protocols to ensure respectful classroom conduct.
