Shimla, April 26 — Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday directed the Finance Department to clear all pending dues of contractors associated with the Public Works and Jal Shakti departments by April 30.

Presiding over a meeting with senior officials of the Finance Department, Sukhu said the first installment of the pending liabilities would be disbursed before April 28, while the remaining payments would be cleared by April 30.

“The pending dues must be settled without delay,” he said, instructing officials to ensure bills are prepared and submitted to the treasury in a timely manner.

Sukhu also raised that officers of the Public Works and Jal Shakti departments should present their bills after the 10th of every month, coinciding with the receipt of the state’s share of Central taxes.

“This will streamline the payment process and avoid unnecessary delays,” he said.

The meeting was attended by MLA Sunder Singh Thakur, Principal Adviser (Media) to the Chief Minister Naresh Chauhan, Additional Chief Secretary Onkar Chand Sharma, Secretary (Finance) Devesh Kumar, Engineer-in-Chief, PWD, NP Singh, and Engineer-in-Chief, Jal Shakti Department, Anju Sharma.
