6 August: Sajeeb Wazed Joy, a US-based son of former Bangladeshi prime leader Sheikh Hasina, responded to his mother’s departure from the nation by stating that she did not want to go but had to go for her own protection. While she is in “good spirits,” Joy, who served as her primary counselor to Hasina, told NDTV that she is really “disappointed and disheartened.”

According to NDTV, he stated, “This vocal minority, the opposition, the militants have now seized power. It was her dream to turn Bangladesh into a developed country and she worked so hard for it over the last 15 years, keeping it safe from militants and as well as from terrorism.”
Joy claimed that Sheikh Hasina fled Bangladesh because she did not want violence to occur there, as stated by India Today.
Speaking to the news outlet, Joy asserted that although Hasina had made the decision to step down on August 3, the demonstrators had not agreed to a smooth handover.
“She did not act improperly…She offered the nation’s best government. She put an end to militancy by fighting with iron fists.Joy told India Today, “She’s 77 years old and will now spend time with her grandchildren.”

Joy, though, voiced concerns about the army’s capacity to restore normalcy.
“…because what’s happening right now is that our leaders, former ministers, and even minorities, from what I hear, are being targeted by the opposition and militants in addition to vandalizing.” He told NDTV, “I don’t think the violence has stopped.”
Concurrently, President Mohammed Shahabuddin of Bangladesh declared the dissolution of the Parliament, which was established subsequent to the January elections of this year. Along with former prime minister and important opposition figure Khaleda Zia, who was imprisoned by her bitter rival Hasina for graft in 2018, he also issued an order for the release of inmates from the protests.
