Schools in Kashmir’s Gurez Shut Till March 15

Gurez, March 13 — Schools across north Kashmir’s Gurez Subdivision will remain closed until March 15 due to heavy snowfall and avalanche threats, authorities have announced.

An order issued by SDM Gurez cited unsafe conditions for students and staff, with snow disrupting movement and making school operations unfeasible.

“In the interest of safety and well-being, all schools in Gurez Subdivision shall remain closed up to March 15, 2025,” the order stated.

School heads have been instructed to comply with the directive as Gurez continues to face harsh weather with heightening avalanche risks.
