SC Gives Punjab 3-Day Window on Dallewal Crisis

by TheReportingTimes

New Delhi, December 31, 2024 — The Supreme Court allowed the Punjab government three more days to address the deteriorating health of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, on a 35-day hunger strike at the Khanauri border.

A special bench led by Justice Surya Kant and Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia heard the matter and granted the extension, urging the state to convince the 70-year-old cancer patient to accept hospital care.

The next hearing is scheduled for January 2, 2025. Concerns over Dallewal’s protest continue to mount as his condition worsens.
