Salesman Beaten Over Toilet Delay in Sector 19

Chandigarh, March 10 — A 25-year-old salesman suffered a fractured nose after three men assaulted him for allegedly taking too long inside a public toilet in Sector 19, Chandigarh.

The incident occurred on February 20 around 4:30 p.m. when Dilpreet Singh, a resident of Phase 1, Bapu Dham Colony, went to use the facility. While inside, a man identified as Sunny, who also works in the market, began banging on the door. Despite Dilpreet’s assurances that he would be out soon, Sunny kicked the door, breaking the latch.

Two other men, Golu and Lalu, then pulled Dilpreet out and berated him for delaying their turn. “They held me down while Sunny punched me in the face,” Dilpreet said. He sustained a fractured nose in the attack.

After recovering from his injuries, Dilpreet approached the police on February 22 to file a complaint. Sector 19 police launched an inquiry and, on March 8, registered an FIR under Sections 117(2) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 3(5) of BNS. Officials are reviewing CCTV footage to verify the sequence of events and track the suspects.
