Rs 9.92 Crore Allotted for Scheduled Caste Students

Chandigarh, 30 Dec. 24: Dr. Baljit Kaur, Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities, announced that the Punjab Government has released Rs 9.92 crore to 1,503 institutions to support Scheduled Caste students in grades 10+1 and 10+2. This funding is part of the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme aimed at assisting students with their fees for the 2017-18 to 2019-20 academic years.

Out of the total Rs 92 crore allocated, Rs 59.34 crore has already been distributed to 256 institutions, and efforts are being made to release the remaining funds to others. The scheme aims to assist both government and private institutions, benefiting students within Punjab as well as those studying outside the state.

Dr. Kaur urged parents to submit income certificates for their children to maximize the benefits of this initiative. For the 2024-25 academic year, the Punjab Government has set aside Rs 245 crore to continue providing financial aid to Scheduled Caste students.
