Reiterated commitment to conduct free, fair and transparent elections in SAS Nagar

Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer Mrs. Ashika Jain said here on Thursday that nine flying squads and nine static surveillance teams are working round the clock to ensure free, fair and transparent Lok Sabha elections-2024 in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district. are
Giving information in this regard, the District Election Officer said that cash, drugs, liquor and other valuables worth Rs. 10.21 crore have been seized in the district after the implementation of the Model Election Code for the Lok Sabha elections. Flying Squad and Static Surveillance Teams active 24×7 to prevent illegal election related activities in the district.
Giving details, the Deputy Commissioner said that enforcement agencies have seized/recovered cash worth Rs 3.80 crore, drugs worth Rs 3.31 crore, liquor worth Rs 14.64 lakh and other valuables worth Rs 2.09 crore.
He further said that under the leadership of SSP Dr. Sandeep Garg, the district police is keeping a strict watch on the inter-state entries to prevent the infiltration of illegal goods into the district.
Apart from this, 09 Flying Squad teams and similar Static Surveillance teams with CCTV camera equipped vehicles are working 24×7 in the district to ensure surveillance and seizure of illegal goods.
He said that violation of the Model Code of Conduct at any place in the district should be reported by any member of the public along with uploading videos and photographs on the mobile app Cvigil and action would be taken within 100 minutes of lodging the complaint. Similarly, the toll-free number 1950 can also be dialed to lodge an election-related complaint or seek any assistance.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the commitment of the district administration to conduct free and fair elections in the district and said that no permission will be given to lure voters and if anyone is found committing such lapses, immediate action will be taken against him.
