Punjab Transfers DCs of Ludhiana, Rupnagar in Bureaucratic Reshuffle

Chandigarh, March 18 — The Punjab government on Wednesday ordered the immediate transfer of four IAS officers and one PCS officer, including the deputy commissioners (DCs) of Ludhiana and Rupnagar.

According to the orders issued by chief secretary KAP Sinha, Himanshu Jain, DC of Rupnagar, has been appointed as the new DC of Ludhiana, replacing Jitendra Jorwal. Varjeet Walia, additional principal secretary to the chief minister and additional chief executive officer (CEO) of the Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion, will take over as Rupnagar’s DC.

Jorwal’s transfer came a day after Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal participated in multiple events in Ludhiana.

In other appointments, Nirmal Ouseppachan, additional deputy commissioner (general) of Mansa, has been posted as additional secretary, coordination, and officer on special duty (OSD) to the chief minister, replacing Simrandeep Singh. Singh has been reassigned as additional principal secretary to the CM and additional CEO of the Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion, succeeding Walia.

Tarsem Chand, PCS, sub-divisional magistrate of Samana, has been posted as deputy excise commissioner (excise and distilleries), Patiala, replacing Udaydeep Sidhu.

“Officers without new postings shall report to the secretary, personnel. Their assignments will be announced later,” the order stated.
