CHANDIGARH, April 8:– The Punjab Government has made it compulsory for all pet shops and dog breeders involved in the sale, purchase, and breeding of pet animals and birds to register with the authorities.
Officials said the move aims to regulate the pet trade and ensure animal welfare standards.
Violations may attract a fine of up to Rs 50,000 and/or imprisonment for up to three months, as per the government order.
