Chandigarh, 8 January- The Punjab branch of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is all ready to camp in Delhi for the crucial contest after the Election Commission of India declared that the Delhi Assembly elections would take place on February 5.
To campaign in the Delhi elections, the AAP has mobilized all of its resources, including MLAs, chairpersons, volunteers, and Punjab Cabinet ministers. Five elections have already taken place in Punjab in 2024, including municipal and panchayat elections, two sets of assembly by-elections, and Lok Sabha elections. The ruling party of Punjab is currently preparing for the Delhi elections in the new year.
A key role will be played by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who is considered the AAP’s leading campaigner. He will speak at a number of roadshows in Delhi, which is still the party’s stronghold.

“This is an important election for us. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will campaign extensively, along with all Cabinet ministers, including state president Aman Arora. MLAs, chairpersons of various boards and corporations, and workers have already been assigned duties. They will all camp in Delhi for the next four weeks,” said Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema.
He added that during elections in Punjab, the Delhi unit of AAP campaigns in the state. “Now, the entire Punjab unit will return the favor and campaign in Delhi. We are determined to break all past records.”
Cheema expressed confidence that AAP would secure a massive majority for the fourth consecutive term. “We will emerge victorious. Arvind Kejriwal rules the hearts of Delhi’s people. His extensive work in the state will earn him their support again. This election will be a stamp of approval on his policies and initiatives,” he said.
When asked about AAP’s chief ministerial candidate, Cheema replied, “Arvind Kejriwal will be the Chief Minister of Delhi. We are coming back. The Bharatiya Janata Party will be routed, and Congress won’t win a single seat. They aren’t even in the contest.”
For the majority of the past year, Punjab’s ruling party has been actively campaigning. In 2024, the Chief Minister met with the Cabinet just five times. In the new year, there has also been no Cabinet meeting.
In order to unanimously reject the Center’s draft agriculture policy, the government had previously intended to call a Vidhan Sabha session in early January. But now that the election has been announced, the session has been called off because all of the leaders have their attention on Delhi.
