Chandigarh, 2 January 2025: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is spearheading a transformative initiative in Punjab’s education sector with the creation of 118 state-of-the-art ‘Schools of Eminence’ in 23 districts.
These schools are redefining education standards and opening doors to better opportunities for students in government schools.
Implemented over the last two and a half years, the program has significantly boosted enrollment in government institutions, reflecting growing public confidence in state-run education.
In addition, 100 senior secondary schools have been upgraded to ‘Schools of Brilliance,’ while 100 primary schools now operate as ‘Schools of Happiness,’ inspired by the success of the Schools of Eminence.
To improve access, free transportation has been provided for students from remote areas. A budget of Rs. 35 crore has also been set aside to supply free uniforms to girls in 17 government senior secondary schools.
With plans to triple the number of these schools by the next academic session, the initiative has received widespread recognition. Students from these institutions are excelling, solidifying Punjab’s reputation as a leader in education nationwide.
