Punjab and Haryana High Court has banned ETT in Punjab

04 May, 2024, Chandigarh –  The ban on recruitment to 5994 posts of teachers has been lifted. The High Court has given permission to the Punjab Government to proceed with the recruitment. While cancelling the Punjabi language examination, the court raised questions as to why Punjab and Punjabiyat were included in this examination? The High Court has ordered to conduct the Punjabi examination within 3 months which all the candidates will have to appear for.

Parvinder Singh and others, while filing the petition through Advocate Vikas Chatrath, told the High Court that the Punjab Government has fixed the ETT on October 12, 2022. Advertisement was issued for 5994 posts. The petitioners had also applied for it as they fulfilled the eligibility criteria in the advertisement. On October 28, 2022, the Punjab Government had notified the Punjab Civil Service Rules. Under this, the additional examination of Punjabi was made mandatory for all Group C government jobs. No relaxation was given to the reserved category in the notification.
