Problems seems to increase for AAP after President Murmu’s order

New Delhi, September 4: According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday gave Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena the ability to create and select members of any authority, board, commission, or statutory body established under laws passed by Parliament for the capital.

Problems surged for AAP government after President Murmu’s latest order

A new clash between the lieutenant governor and the AAP government in the capital is probably going to be sparked by the new Presidential decision.

The beginning of controversy

The President last year approved the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill 2023, which mandated that the National Capital Civil Services Authority (NCCSA) handle all officer transfers and postings. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will preside over this body which will also include two senior bureaucrats from the Delhi government.

The lieutenant governor has the final say in all decisions made by the authority. Kejriwal had opposed the measure and charged that the Centre was attempting to “arm twist” the citizens of Delhi so as to steal their votes.

Earlier in the day, Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj attacked L-G VK Saxena, claiming that he was going to “waste” public funds to improve his online persona and labeling it as a “conspiracy” to sway voters ahead of the national capital’s assembly elections.
