Prayers Offered at Sri Akal Takht Sahib for Ailing Dallewal

Amritsar, 3 January 2025 – Prayers were conducted at Sri Akal Takht Sahib for the recovery of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on a hunger strike for 39 days, demanding the fulfillment of farmers’ demands. His health continues to deteriorate, prompting support and concern from across the farming community.

Head Granthi Singh Sahib Giani Malkit Singh, along with Panj Pyares and the Sangat, led the prayers, appealing for Dallewal’s well-being and the success of his ongoing struggle. “We prayed for Jagjit Singh Dallewal to recover quickly and for his efforts to bear fruit. May he return to his family healthy and victorious,” Giani Malkit Singh shared.

Dallewal, a key figure in the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-political), began his hunger strike to push for the acceptance of farmers’ demands, including those raised at protests on the Shambhu and Khanori borders. Despite their efforts, the central government remains unyielding. On December 30, the farmers intensified their agitation by observing a statewide bandh in Punjab.

Medical updates indicate that Dallewal’s condition is worsening, with doctors stating that his body has become severely frail. “His physical state has reached a critical point,” noted a medical bulletin, highlighting the urgency of the situation.

Meanwhile, farmer leaders are gearing up to make the Kisan Mahapanchayat on January 4 a major event to garner further support for their cause, as the standoff with the government continues unabated.
