Kuwait, 22 December 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the opening ceremony of the 26th ‘Arabian Gulf Cup’ on Saturday at Kuwait’s Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium. Invited as the chief guest by Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Modi’s presence underscored deepening ties between India and Kuwait.

Modi attended the grand ceremony, which also provided opportunities for informal discussions with Kuwaiti leaders, the Ministry of External Affairs stated.

Earlier, Modi addressed Indian expatriates at the ‘Hala Modi’ event at Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Indoor Sports Complex. Acknowledging their contributions, he emphasized India’s growing role as a global talent hub.

“Every year, hundreds of Indians bring their ingenuity to Kuwait, enriching its culture with India’s talent, technology, and tradition,” Modi said, calling the diverse Indian community in Kuwait a “Mini Hindustan.” He celebrated their role in fostering ties between the two nations and contributing to global progress.
