PM Modi’s concern regarding increase in conflict in West Asia

New Delhi: Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, had a conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. PM Modi claimed that the two leaders had talked about the state of affairs in West Asia. “There is no place for terrorism in our world. Maintaining the safe release of all captives and preventing regional escalation are of utmost importance. India is dedicated to supporting efforts for an early restoration of peace and stability,” he tweeted.

Since Hamas abducted Israeli civilians in October of last year, there has been an increase in the conflict in West Asia.

Israel has been targeting Lebanon with airstrikes. Additionally, the US daily Washington Post said that it has notified the US that it is preparing a limited ground operation as well.

The Israeli army declared on Saturday that it had destroyed Iran-backed Hezbollah leader Nasrallah during the attack on the organization’s Beirut central command headquarters. The hardliners in Iran are now demanding the development of nuclear weapons and the closing of the critical Strait of Hormuz as severe measures against Israel.

During a meeting with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot in Beirut today, Prime Minister of Lebanon Najib Mikati demanded a ceasefire in the hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah.
