Player’s shuffling in IPL 2025 might shock fans

IPL 2025: The turmoil surrounding the Mumbai Indians’ (MI) captaincy change clouded the 17th Indian Premier League (IPL). Prior to the IPL 2024, the five-time winners took a significant decision by bringing back Hardik Pandya from the Gujarat Titans in an all-cash transaction, replacing the spot of longtime captain Rohit Sharma. This raised more rumors that Rohit and Hardik were at odds. MI finished last in the points because of the reported hostility between the two.

Although it appears like the two had reconciled during the T20 World Cup, which India won earlier this year, there have been rumors circulating that Rohit has received approaches from other teams to take on the role of captain for the next season.

There have been rumors circulating that Rohit has received approaches from other teams to take on the role of captain for the IPL 2025.

Nevertheless, the issue does not appear to end here for MI. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have reportedly sought Suryakumar Yadav, who was recently named captain of India’s T20I team, to become their captain, beginning with the 2025 Indian Premier League.

Journalist Rohit Juglan claims in a YouTube video that Suryakumar might rejoin his old team if KKR extends an informal offer to him. The report also claimed that KKR are ready to do a trade deal with MI for Suryakumar, with Shreyas Iyer, who guided them to the title last year, going the other way.

Nevertheless, On the journalist’s video, there has been no official reaction from KKR.

In the meantime, Suryakumar and Iyer are competing in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament on behalf of Mumbai.

Deepak Patil, the deputy secretary of the Mumbai Cricket Association, confirmed Iyer’s availability for the match against Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, following Suryakumar’s earlier confirmation of his participation earlier in the month.

“Shreyas Iyer will compete for the Mumbai team at the Buchi Babu Invitational organized by Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. He will participate in the Mumbai vs. Jammu & Kashmir match, which kicks off in Coimbatore on August 27,” Patil declared.

Both Iyer and Suryakumar will use the Buchi Babu Tournament, a legendary event in Indian domestic cricket, as a vital platform to hone their skills. Recognizing the value of match practice in sustaining top performance, the BCCI had previously urged Indian internationals to take part in domestic competitions prior to the upcoming international season.
