Phagwara, December 21, 2024: The Phagwara Municipal Corporation election results are in, with the Congress party securing a commanding victory, winning 22 out of the total 45 seats. Voting, which began at 7 am, concluded earlier in the day, paving the way for the declaration of results.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) claimed 12 seats, followed by the BJP with five, while the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) secured two and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) won one. Additionally, three independent candidates managed to clinch victories in their respective wards.
Prominent winners include Congress’ Paramjit Singh Khurana from Ward 48, Gurpreet Kaur from Ward 28, and Nikka Sudhir from Ward 2. Paramjit Kaur Walia (Ward 15) and Saurabh Joshi (Ward 46) also contributed to Congress’ strong showing.
The AAP saw notable wins, including Pritpal Kaur from Ward 41 and Anita Rani from Ward 45. Meanwhile, BJP’s Mamta Khosla, wife of former mayor Arun Khosla, secured a win in Ward 3.
The results reflect Congress’ stronghold in Phagwara, with other parties also gaining footholds in select areas. The municipal corporation comprises 45 wards, making these elections a critical marker of political influence in the region.
