Chandigarh, April 22: Prof Pinaki Dutta, a senior faculty member at PGIMER, Chandigarh, was honoured with the prestigious Samanta Chandra Sekhar Award-2023 by the Odisha Bigyan Academy.
The award was presented by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Kumar Majhi in Bhubaneswar on March 28, recognising the contributions of Odisha-born scientists working in other states.
An alumnus of MKCG Medical College, Berhampur, Prof Dutta completed his MD and DM in Endocrinology at PGIMER, where he has been an integral part of the academic community since 2004.
His groundbreaking research on the cost-effective use of Imatinib for acromegaly has earned widespread recognition.
With over 250 research papers published and more than 50 postgraduate students mentored, Prof Dutta’s impact extends globally.
He has received numerous national and international accolades and served as a visiting professor in the US, UK, and Europe.
Notably, he is the first Indian to hold a leadership position in the International Pituitary Society.
