Panchkula, April 12: Panchkula police on Friday rolled out a fully digitised ‘Smart E-Beat System’ to strengthen patrol accountability and improve real-time response. Inaugurated by Police Commissioner Rakesh Kumar Arya at the Mansa Devi Complex police office, the initiative makes Panchkula the third district in Haryana to adopt this advanced model of patrol management.
“This system is a major shift towards tech-enabled policing. It will help curb crime and make police functioning more transparent and efficient,” Arya said during the launch, while briefing personnel on its features.
The Smart E-Beat System integrates 29 motorcycle riders and 12 PCR vans across nearly 450 designated locations in the city. Patrolling units are monitored through mobile and web-based applications that allow senior officers to track movements via GPS in real time, even in offline mode. The platform also includes digital beat books, field incident reporting, and centralised oversight to ensure consistency in beat operations.
Officials noted that all patrols will now be digitally recorded, enhancing transparency and ensuring regularity. The system also features crime and criminal mapping tools to help identify hotspots and deploy resources accordingly.
“This integration of technology will not only improve police coordination but also increase public confidence by making patrolling more visible and systematic,” Arya added.
In the initial phase, the system covers police station-level riders and PCR teams. Traffic police units will be brought under the same platform in subsequent phases.
