Tarn Taran, April 16:— Punjab Police’s Narcotics Task Force arrested a major drug smuggler allegedly linked to Pakistan-based traffickers and recovered 3.105 kg heroin, two country-made .32 bore pistols, 37 cartridges and two magazines, DGP Gaurav Yadav said Tuesday.

The accused, Jobanjit Singh alias Joban, hailing from Kotli Sur Singh village in Tarn Taran, has a criminal background and was reportedly receiving heroin consignments via drones for the past few months.

“Joban was in contact with cross-border smugglers. Investigations are ongoing and more arrests are expected,” the DGP noted, adding that Amritsar police had received credible input about Joban recently acquiring a fresh consignment.

A covert operation led by SP Border Range Gurpreet Singh led to his arrest from his residence. FIR No. 99 dated April 15, 2025, has been filed under the NDPS and Arms Acts at Police Station ANTF, SAS Nagar.
