Thane, March 15– A viral video showing school children driving a Mahindra XUV700 on a busy Thane road has sparked outrage online, with netizens urging authorities to take strict action.
The video, shared on Instagram by @safecars_india, has garnered 11.8 million views. It shows a minor at the wheel while other students, reportedly in 8th or 9th grade, lean out of the sunroof.
“I recorded this while driving. These kids, around 12-13 years old, were inside the car with some sticking out of the sunroof. I yelled at them for their safety. Parents should be held responsible,” read the video’s caption.
Users flooded the comments, demanding immediate action. “That’s a big issue nowadays; it’s becoming a trend among minors,” one wrote. Another added, “The number plate is clearly visible. Hope strict action is taken.” A third suggested impounding the vehicle and imposing a hefty fine on the owner.
Authorities have yet to respond to the viral footage.
