Delhi, Dec. 26 – The Prime Minister’s National Children’s Awards were distributed at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi on Thursday, marking Brave Children’s Day celebrations. President Draupadi Murmu honored 17 young achievers from 14 states and union territories, including 7 boys and 10 girls, across seven categories such as art and culture, bravery, innovation, science and technology, social work, sports, and the environment.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the event, inaugurating the Suposhit Panchayat Scheme and flagging off a march past. Union Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi delivered the opening address. More than 3,500 participants, including award recipients and dignitaries, were present at the ceremony.

Established in 1996 by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the National Children’s Award recognizes Indian citizens between 5 and 18 years old for exceptional achievements.

Initially focused on six categories — art and culture, bravery, innovation, education, social service, and sports — the awards expanded in 2018 to include science and technology and officially began recognizing bravery.

Awardees also participate in the Republic Day parade, symbolizing the nation’s appreciation for their contributions and inspiring others with their dedication and accomplishments.
