passion to do something different, Nancy, daughter of Gram Panchayat of Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh, has taken the steering wheel to drive the bus. Nancy has become the first private bus driver of Himachal. Nancy has started providing services as a driver in private bus service RTC. On the first day on Thursday, Nancy provided services as a driver in the Galod route bus. As soon as she reached Hamirpur bus stand, bus manager Vijay welcomed Nancy by giving her a cap and flowers.
Driver Nancy, who reached the bus stand with a bus full of passengers, expressed happiness for the encouragement. Nancy has received training in driving a bus from HRTC Hamirpur last year and before that she was driving an ambulance in Kangra and now she has become the first woman driver to drive a private bus in Hamirpur. Nancy told that the journey started by driving a small car and her parents supported her decision of becoming driver when she took two months of training in HRTC and got the license.
Nancy shared her first day experience with delight calling it a great experience to take passengers in a private bus for the first time. Nancy’s dream is to become an HRTC bus driver. Nancy told that if family supports, girls can also progress in any field. Nancy told that girls have to leave their hesitations and should not lose courage.
The passengers in the bus also expressed happiness over Nancy becoming a bus driver. The passengers felt very good while traveling in a bus with a female driver for the first time. Nisha and Neha- the women traveling in the bus told that they felt extremely proud seeing a girl drive bus. Nancy is an inspiration for women aspiring for their dreams to be accomplished.
