Mohali Excise Department Nets ₹849.16 Crore from Liquor Vend Auction

Mohali, March 18— The Mohali excise department successfully auctioned all 299 liquor vends in the district in a single round on Monday, generating ₹849.16 crore—₹254 crore above the reserve price of ₹595 crore—for the 2025-26 fiscal year.

The department also earned ₹3.30 crore in non-refundable application fees by charging ₹5 lakh each from 66 applicants. Twelve applications were rejected for failing to meet technical bid requirements.

This year’s revenue marks a significant jump from the ₹494.92 crore generated in 2024-25, reflecting a ₹354.2 crore increase. Last year, the application fee was ₹75,000, bringing in ₹74.40 crore from 9,920 applications.

For the latest auction, the district was divided into 13 groups: four in Mohali city, three in Kharar, two in Zirakpur, and one each in Kurali, New Chandigarh, Dera Bassi, and Lalru.

Among the top bidders, Tarsem Chand paid the highest amount—₹77.33 crore for 16 vends in Zirakpur-2 and ₹61.33 crore for 25 vends in Kurali.

In Mohali city, Star Wine Company secured 13 vends in Mohali-3 for ₹70.37 crore, 16 vends in Mohali-2 for ₹59.67 crore, and 18 vends in Mohali-1 for ₹56.97 crore. The company also acquired 15 vends in Kharar-2 for ₹63.99 crore.

Chandigarh Liquor Company purchased 15 vends in Mohali-4 for ₹67.33 crore, while Aman Sharma won 52 vends in Lalru for ₹54.52 crore and 38 vends in Kharar-3 for ₹69.76 crore.

In Kharar-1, Fateh Traders secured 26 vends for ₹68.66 crore. Jagjit Singh bought 16 vends in Zirakpur-1 for ₹74.23 crore. Jai Guruji Company acquired 25 vends in New Chandigarh for ₹58 crore, while Scotchtap Company won 22 vends in Dera Bassi for ₹67 crore.
