Messi scores an equaliser for Inter-Miami

In Saturday’s 1-1 draw between Inter Miami and Charlotte FC in Fort Lauderdale, Lionel Messi scored a historic equaliser in the second half of the game. Tata Martino had won five matches in a row before this, his third straight draw. Charlotte, meanwhile, was stopped from winning two in a row. Messi scored in the 67th minute after receiving the ball outside the box during a brief corner drill. To make it 1-1, the Argentine international curled a shot past Kristijan Kahlina, who was diving. In addition, Messi scored his third goal in four games since his return, marking his 15th goal of the year. His effort nullified Karal Swiderski’s goal for Charlotte in the 57th minute. In the second half, the Charlotte custodian saved seven shots and proved to be his team’s saviour. Goalie Drake Callender of Inter Miami, meanwhile, only had to stop one of the two shots he faced.

Lionel Messi on field

During the October break, Messi will also resume his international duties, as Martino disclosed before the game. He added, “He has the games with the Argentinian national team in addition to the ones with us.”

“Leo will continue to improve as he logs an additional ninety minutes. Leo does not require differentiated physical work during training; instead, he needs a competitive rhythm. Based on this, I believe he will do well in the playoffs because, in addition to our games, he also plays for the Argentine national team. We therefore hope very much that he will be in excellent form going into the play-offs,” he continued. Messi, who is regarded as the greatest football player of all time by many, has won eight FIFA Best Player titles, six European Golden Shoes, and eight Ballon d’Or awards. With 44 team trophies, including 12 league titles, four Champions Leagues, two Cop Americas, and one FIFA World Cup trophy, he is also the most decorated player in football history.
