Manmohan Singh Must Be Granted Bharat Ratna: Channi

New Delhi/Chandigarh, 28 December 2024: Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was cremated with state honours at Nigam Bodh Ghat today, with tributes from national leaders including President Droupadi Murmu. Among the attendees, former Punjab Chief Minister and current Jalandhar MP Charanjit Singh Channi called for the Bharat Ratna to be posthumously awarded to Dr. Singh.

Speaking to reporters, Channi described Dr. Singh as a visionary whose contributions to India’s progress were monumental. He also took pride in Singh’s roots in Punjab and urged the central government to recognize his legacy with the nation’s highest civilian honour.
