Maharashtra, 29 December 2024 – A man in Maharashtra’s Parbhani district allegedly killed his wife by setting her on fire after she gave birth to their third daughter, police reported on Saturday. The incident took place on Thursday night in Gangakhed Naka, around 520 kilometers from Mumbai.
The accused, identified as 32-year-old Kundlik Uttam Kale, reportedly had frequent disputes with his wife, Maina, over the fact that they had three daughters, according to a complaint filed by the victim’s sister.
“Following an argument on Thursday night, Kale poured petrol on his wife and set her ablaze,” an official from Gangakhed police station stated. “She ran outside seeking help, and neighbors attempted to extinguish the flames, but her injuries were too severe. She succumbed to her burns while being transported to the hospital.”
Kale has been arrested and charged with murder, police confirmed. Investigations into the case are ongoing.
