by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, April 15: — A 30-year-old man was found brutally murdered in the forested area of Sector 54 on Monday morning, with police suspecting the possibility of sexual assault due to the state of undress.

The body, discovered by locals around 8 a.m., bore injuries consistent with a heavy blunt object. A large stone believed to be the murder weapon was found nearby, police said.

“We recovered a kara and a ring from the body, which suggests robbery was not the motive,” said a police officer familiar with the investigation.

While the victim remains unidentified, investigators noted a tattoo on his body with the names “Sandeep and Sanju,” which could assist in tracking his background. The body has been sent for autopsy, and police are combing through missing persons’ reports for a potential match.

“We are reviewing CCTV footage from surrounding areas and reaching out to other police stations to check for any recent missing complaints,” the officer added.

A murder case has been filed under Section 101 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police said they are awaiting the post-mortem report to confirm whether sexual assault was involved.

No arrests had been made till Monday evening, and the area has been cordoned off for further forensic examination.
