In an exciting encounter, the Lucknow Super Giants defeated the Mumbai Indians by 12 runs to record their second IPL 2025 victory. Lucknow, who batted first, amassed 203 for eight in 20 overs thanks to half-centuries from Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh.Mumbai responded with a fifty-run effort from Suryakumar Yadav, but could only manage 191 for five in the allocated overs.Regarding Mumbai Suryakumar used nine fours and a six to score 67 runs off 43 balls.
Early Wickets Hurt Mumbai’s Chase
Chasing the target, Mumbai did not have a good start and lost the wickets of Will Jacks and Ryan Rickleton within 17 runs. After this, Suryakumar and Naman Dheer took over the innings and added 69 runs for the third wicket with brilliant batting. Naman, however, missed out on a half-century and was dismissed after scoring 46 runs off 24 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes. Mumbai brought in Tilak Verma as an impact player who played a good role in supporting Suryakumar.

After hitting a half-century off of 31 balls, Suryakumar kept up his aggressive approach. Avesh Khan dismissed Suryakumar. Hardik Pandya, the captain, arrived at the crease after Suryakumar had gone back to the pavilion. Just before the last over, Tilak Verma retired out after scoring 25 runs, and Mitchell Santner took his position at the crease. To win the last over, Mumbai needed to score 22 runs. Avesh successfully defended the target after Hardik smacked a six off the first ball. With two fours and a six, Hardik scored 28 runs off 16 balls to remain undefeated, while Santner scored two runs to return undefeated as well. For Lucknow, Shardul Thakur, Akash Deep, Avesh Khan and Digvesh Singh Rathi got one wicket each.
