Srinagar, Apr 25 — J&K’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday summoned the special session of Legislative Assembly on April 28 to “discuss” Pahalgam attack.
The LG issued the summon after the cabinet led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah recommended to him to summon the special session of Legislative Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir on April 28, 2025 at Jammu.
“I, Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me under section 18(1) of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019, do hereby summon the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly to meet at Jammu on Monday, the 28th of April, 2025 at 10.30 A.M,” reads the summon.
According to sources, the Assembly session is expected to include an obituary reference for the victims of Pahalgam attack as well as condemnation of the attack.
“The House could also pass a resolution to condemn the attack,” they said, adding that there are no restrictions on passing a resolution to condemn the attack.
This is the second time in J&K’s history when Assembly has been convened to discuss civilian killings by militants. In 2001, the autumn session of J&K legislature was extended by one day to pay homage to civilians killed in terror attack on Assembly complex.
