Kidnapped Child Rescued, Accused Killed in Encounter

Patiala/Khanna, March 13 — A seven-year-old boy kidnapped from Seehan Daud village was rescued after an encounter near Mandour village on Nabha Road in Patiala, where police shot dead one of the accused.

According to police, the child, Bhavkirat Singh, was abducted by two motorcycle-borne suspects while playing outside his home. His grandfather, Gurjant Singh, a farmer and commission agent, reported the incident to the police control room.

“Following the alert, separate teams from Payal and Amargarh launched a search operation, tracking the suspects on Malerkotla-Khanna road,” a senior police officer mentioned. The accused were later located near Patiala, where they opened fire on the police when confronted.

“The teams responded, leading to an exchange of gunfire in which one of the accused was shot dead, and the child was safely recovered,” the officer stated.
