Kharar MLA Confronts EO Over Delays in Development Works

by TheReportingTimes

Kharar, April 18:— Kharar MLA Anmol Gagan Mann clashed with Municipal Council Executive Officer Ravi Jindal on Thursday during the inauguration of two newly constructed tubewells in Ward No. 6, raising sharp questions over stalled developmental works in the area.

The tubewells, completed at a cost of Rs 93.50 lakh, were part of an ongoing infrastructure push. However, the event quickly turned confrontational after residents confronted the MLA over pending road repairs and inaction against unauthorised constructions.

Responding to the public’s concerns, Mann summoned Jindal and other civic officials to the site and questioned them in front of the gathering. She asked why previous instructions to remove illegal structures had not been implemented and pressed for updates on delayed road works.

Jindal reportedly cited legal constraints and procedural hurdles, prompting a strong reaction from the MLA. “This is not our father’s money, it belongs to the public,” she told him. “No officer or politician is above the people. Why aren’t the development works being done? Rs 400 crore has been granted for Kharar — why is that money lying unused?”

Officials at the event intervened to ease the situation as the exchange grew tense.

The confrontation has sparked renewed public scrutiny over the pace of civic projects in Kharar, with many residents expressing frustration at what they see as administrative inaction despite available funds.
