New Delhi, 30 Dec 2024: Arvind Kejriwal, leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), announced on Monday that his party would roll out the ‘Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana’ if re-elected in the Delhi Assembly elections. The scheme promises to provide a monthly honorarium of Rs 18,000 to Hindu temple priests and granthis serving in gurdwaras across the city.

During his announcement, Kejriwal explained, “Under the ‘Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana,’ priests and granthis will receive Rs 18,000 per month as honorarium. For the first time in India, such a scheme is being introduced to financially support them.”

The scheme aims to acknowledge the significant contributions of priests and granthis, who often remain overlooked despite their vital role in society. Kejriwal remarked, “Priests and granthis are an essential part of our community but are frequently neglected. With this initiative, we are addressing their needs.”

The registration for the scheme will begin on Tuesday, with Kejriwal planning to visit the Hanuman temple in Connaught Place to oversee the process. This announcement comes as AAP intensifies its efforts to secure a fourth consecutive term in Delhi.
