Kangana Ranaut elections as BJP MP from Mandi Challenged.

25 July, Mandi: Kangana Ranaut defeated Congress Candidate Vikramaditya Singh by 74,755 votes in Mandi

A former government employee named as Layak Ram Negi has challenged Kangana Ranaut elections as BJP MP from Mandi by submitting a petition in Himachal Pradesh high Court.

Negi was an independent candidate from the Mandi seat. He took a voluntary retirement from his service and obtained a “no dues certificate” from his department along with his nomination.

He alleged that his nomination was rejected within a day by the returning officer. He was then asked to obtain a “no dues certificate” from the electricity, water and telephone department.

Upon submitting all the required papers by 15th May, still the returning officer did not accept his documents. Negi said that he could have won as an independent candidate if his papers would have been accepted, on this ground he has asked for the elections to be set aside.

Himachal High Court has already issued a notice to Kangana Ranaut and asked for a reply till 21st August.
