Washington, USA: Hassan Nasrallah, the head of Hezbollah (Shia Islamist militant group and political party from Lebanon) was killed on Saturday, and US President Joe Biden described it as “a measure of justice for his many victims, including thousands of Americans, Israelis, and Lebanese civilians.”
Joe Biden restated US support for Israel’s right to defend itself against terrorist groups
Biden reaffirmed US support for “Israel’s right to defend itself against Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis, and any other Iranian-supported terrorist groups” in a statement made the day after an Israeli airstrike killed Nasrallah.
Biden stated that he had given the defense secretary the directive to “further enhance the defense stance of US military forces in the Middle East region in order to avoid aggression and reduce the risk of a broader regional war.”
Israel’s military declared early on Saturday that Nasrallah, the armed movement’s leader for over thirty years, was killed Friday night in a bombardment that targeted the organization’s headquarters in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
