Srinagar, Apr 28: Continuing its crackdown against terrorist associates and to strengthen investigation into UAPA cases, Srinagar Police on Sunday carried out extensive searches at multiple locations across the city.
Police spokesperson in a statement said the searches were aimed at dismantling terror-supporting infrastructure in the district. Searches were conducted at the residences of several individuals involved in different cases registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Arms Act.
Residences searched included that of Javid Ahmad Najar of Zaibakadal, Adil Ahmad Sofi of Rathpora Eidgah, Shabir Ahmad Ganie of Ganai Mohalla New Theed, Sheikh Faisal Rashid of Firdous Colony Sadipora, Momin Javari Gojri of Shalimar Colony Sadipora, Rayees Ahmad Najar of Kalaldoori Naidkadal, Ehitsham Bilal of Sumkishbal Khanyar, Amir Sedeeq Najar of Kalaldoori Nidekadal, Mubashir Rashid of Jogilankar, Muzamil Khurshid of Beroni Kathidarwaza, and Mehnan Ahmad Khan of Syedpora Khawajapora.
Searches were also conducted at the homes of Ashiq Hussain Bhat of Darbagh, Farooq Ahmad Dar of Bhagwanpora, Burhan Ahmad Shah of Zampakadal, Altaf Ahmad Dar of Malikpora Barthana, Mohd Asif Nath of Malikpora Barthana, Umer Hamid Sheikh of Asaar Colony Hazratbal, Tawheed Ahmad of Goripora Sozieth, Bashir Ahmad Bhat of Sozieth, Ilyas Ahmad Sangeen of Abu Baker Lane Lalbazar Malalabagh, and Manzoor Ahmad Bhat of Hamza Colony 90 Feet Road Soura.
Further searches were carried out at the houses of Tawous Ahmad Gadda of Hamdaniya Colony Bemina, Junaid Ahmad Parry alias Billa of Baripora, Mehraj-ud-Din Khan alias Sahba of Khankhai Sokhta Nawakadal, Musavir Nabi Bhat of Wanganpora, Arash Koul of Dalal Mohalla Nawabazar, Shakir Farooq Bhat of Shah Mohalla Nawabazar, Bashrat Ahmad Bazaz of Malik Angan Fathakadal, Furqan Nazir of Islamyarbal Zainkadal, Zulafkar Ahmad Najar alias Sahabatomatar of Urdu Bazar, Momin Ahmad Sheikh of Batyar Ali Kadal, Qasir Altaf Hakeem of Syed Hamidpora Nawab Bazar, Manzoor Ahmad Danposh of Gunz Khud Dabtal, and Sajad Ahmad Gilkar of Pandan Nowhatta (killed terrorist).
Ashiq Hussain Rangrez of Iqbal Market Jamia Masjid, Faizan Nisar Rangrez of Anderwani Naidkadal, Aqib Lateef Wani of Mumkhan Mohallah, Farooq Ahmad Wani of Kathi Darwaza, Syed Ahmad Parimoo of Mumkhan Mohalla Badamwari, Syed Asrar Qardi of Qureshi Mohalla Lalbazar, Jasia Nazir of Khunmoh, Bashir Sultan Bhat of Shankarpora Nowgam, and others were also searched during the action.
The statement reads that the searches were conducted in accordance with legal procedures, in the presence of Executive Magistrates and independent witnesses, under the supervision of J&K Police officers.
The action was taken to seize arms, documents, and digital devices to aid in evidence collection and intelligence gathering to detect and deter any conspiratorial or terrorist activities against the nation’s security, the spokesperson said.
This decisive action, the statement reads, is aimed at dismantling the terrorist ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir by identifying and taking strict legal action against individuals engaged in anti-national and criminal activities.
Srinagar Police reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and security in the city and warned that any individual found furthering the agenda of violence or unlawful activities will face strict legal consequences.
