JALANDHAR, DEC 28 – A tragic accident near Chougitti Flyover on Saturday morning claimed the life of an ambulance driver and left a patient critically injured. The ambulance, transporting the patient to Jalandhar for treatment, was struck from behind by a high-speed trolley, causing it to overturn.
The patient, who sustained serious injuries, was immediately transferred to another ambulance and taken to a hospital, where treatment is underway.
Ramamandi police station in-charge Parminder Singh confirmed the driver’s death and said an investigation has been initiated. The police have registered a case and seized both vehicles involved in the collision.
Emergency services worked quickly to move the overturned ambulance with a crane and restore normal traffic flow. The driver’s body has been sent to Civil Hospital Jalandhar for a postmortem examination.
