As part of a money laundering investigation connected to a land “fraud” case, the Enforcement Directorate—Jalandhar—raided the homes of AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjeev Arora and a few others on Monday, including real estate agents and investors.

ED raided AAP MP residence in Punjab connected to a land “fraud” case

The state government allegedly gave Arora’s company, Ritesh Properties and Industries Ltd (RPIL), an industrial land in Ludhiana. However, Arora allegedly broke the terms of the agreement by establishing residential and commercial projects.

Additionally, raids have begun to take place at the residences of the company’s directors, Chander Aggarwal of Jalandhar and Hemant Sood of Ludhiana.

Another suspect in the alleged money laundering case is Pardeep Aggarwal of Royal Industries in Ludhiana. His premises, too, is being raided in the industrial city.

According to ED sources, Arora’s case has been under investigation since before he became an MP because of the allotment of land and its breach.

Arora, in his tweet at 10:08 am wrote, “I am a law-abiding citizen, am not sure about the reason for search operation, will cooperate fully with agencies and make sure all their queries are answered”.

Manish Sisodia, an AAP leader, also tweeted in support of Arora, claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been misusing ED to target AAP leaders. “They have invaded the homes of Satyendra Jain, Arvind Kejriwal, Sanjay Singh, and even mine in the last two years. They are merely fabricating stories to disrupt the party. Our party leaders will not give up or fall into the trap of being afraid of the agencies,” he wrote.
