During a two-day operation, the Denton County Sheriff’s Office arrested 21 people in Texas, including at least seven men of Indian descent. By focusing on those who were trying to buy sexual services, the operation—known as the Prostitution Demand Suppression Operation—aimed to lower the number of prostitutes in the neighborhood.
Seven men of Indian origin were held for soliciting prostitution in Texas
Nikil Bandi, Nikhil Kummari, Karthik Rayapati, Nabin Shrestha, Amit Kumar, Jaikiran Reddy Mekala, and Galla Monish are the seven males of Indian descent who were taken into custody during the prostitution sting.
Two Denton residents, Nikhil Bandi and Nikhil Kummari, were accused of avoiding arrest and custody.
On suspicion of soliciting prostitution, Galla Monish, Rayapati Karthik, Nabin Shrestha, and Amit Kumar from Little Elm were taken into custody.
Jaikiran Reddy Mekala was also accused of seeking prostitution involving a kid under the age of 18 and avoiding arrest and imprisonment. Prostitution solicitation involving minors is considered a second-degree felony in Texas.
Including the seven guys of Indian descent, the operation, which was conducted on August 14 and 15, resulted in the arrest of 21 people in all.
The charges against 14 of the detained included soliciting prostitution.
The more serious second-degree felony of soliciting prostitution involving a minor was brought against two more people. Three people were apprehended for escaping arrest and imprisonment, while two people were arrested for carrying a weapon without a permit.
According to a report released by the Denton County Sheriff’s Office on August 20, they are aggressively looking for leads on additional individuals who may be participating in prostitution.
