Prayagraj, 14 January 2025- The Maha Kumbh Mela provides a spectacular spectacle unlike any other, with over 1.6 crore devotees taking part on the first day of the religious event. Even though Naga Babas and other internationally renowned religious leaders hold great significance, it’s an “IITian Baba” who has taken the center stage.

IITian Baba, also known as Abhay Singh or Masani Gorakh, made it to the Maha Kumbh 2025.

Masani Gorakh, disclosed that he attended the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay to study aerospace engineering. In order to better understand himself and the divine, he eventually left the fields of science and aerospace to become a monk.

After renaming himself Masani Gorakh, Abhay Singh devoted his life to worshiping Lord Shiva. According to him, he also goes by Raghav and Jagdish.

He was from Haryana and attended IIT Bombay for four years before switching to the “arts side” and working in photography and earning a master’s degree in design. He was a physics coach as well.

In order to “understand the meaning of life,” the IIT Baba also disclosed that he studied philosophy courses on postmodernism, Socrates, and Plato. He experimented in a number of professions without success before returning home and concentrating on “basic things.”

“I now understand that this is real knowledge. If you have to understand the mind or mental health, than you can do it (through spirituality),” he told News18, adding that he does not care what people think of his new ambition. When he was asked how he reached this stage, Singh said, “This stage is the best stage.”

One of the most important religious gatherings, the Maha Kumbh Mela is held once every four years at one of the four locations in India. The dates of the cultural extravaganza are January 13–26. According to seers, the celestial permutations and combinations for this event are occurring after 144 years, making it even more significant this year. On the first day, over 1.65 crore devotees took a holy dip.
