28 July, Himachal: Since the start of the monsoon on June 27, fifty-six persons have died in rain-related accidents in Himachal Pradesh, and the state has lost Rs 410 crore, according to the emergency operation center.
Data from the state center shows that 21 people died from falls, 18 people drowned accidentally, 8 people died from electrocution and snake bites, and 1 person perished in a flash flood.
The Public Works Department suffered the most loss of Rs 172 crore, followed by the Horticulture Department with Rs 139 crore, the center stated. Approximately 100 residences were damaged.
The Shimla meteorological office issued a yellow advisory, alerting people to the possibility of severe rainfall in isolated areas throughout eight state districts through July 31.
